Cannes Young Lions Idea Submission

Insight: Every day we send brief emails like, “Got it, On it” without a second thought—harmless right?
But, as calculated by Eco2 Greetings, short text-based emails emit 4 grams of CO2e and create massive digital pollution. So, an average year of emailing emits about 136 kilograms of CO2e, which is the same impact as driving a gas-powered car 200 miles.  

 

Idea: Let’s team up with Microsoft to bring awareness to digital waste and help eliminate it. Our campaign would ask businesses to reduce the volume of unnecessarily short text-based emails and instead create personalized signatures to streamline communications and encourage everyone to work in a more eco-friendly way. To further awareness on digital waste, we would use Microsoft’s Viva to distribute tips on how to reduce your digital carbon footprint.
